Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, and transfer to your hotel or lodge.
Meet with your trekking guide for a briefing and equipment check.
Rest and relax to prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Moshi to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast, drive from Moshi to the Marangu Gate (1,860 meters).
Complete park formalities and begin the trek.
Hike through the rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700 meters).
Overnight stay at Mandara Hut.

Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leave Mandara Hut after breakfast.
Trek through the rainforest, then into the heath and moorland zones.
Arrive at Horombo Hut (3,720 meters).
Overnight stay at Horombo Hut.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

Spend a day at Horombo Hut for acclimatization.
Optional day hike to Zebra Rocks or Mawenzi Hut.
Rest and hydrate to prepare for higher altitudes.

Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Leave Horombo Hut and trek towards the Saddle.
Ascend to Kibo Hut (4,703 meters), situated at the base of the Kibo summit cone.
Prepare for the summit attempt.
Early dinner and rest at Kibo Hut.

Day 6: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Wake up around midnight for a hot drink and a light snack.
Begin the summit attempt, ascending steeply to Gilman’s Point (5,681 meters).
Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa.
Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest.
Continue descending to Horombo Hut for overnight rest.

Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

Descend from Horombo Hut through the rainforest.
Arrive at the Marangu Gate and sign out.
Transfer back to Moshi.
Celebratory dinner and overnight stay in Moshi.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast at your hotel or lodge.
Transfer to the airport for departure or continue your onward journey.
