Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Meet your guide for a briefing and equipment check. Relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Moshi/Arusha to Rongai Gate to Simba Camp (2,650m)

After breakfast, drive to the Rongai Gate (1,950m) for registration and formalities. Begin the trek through dense forest, spotting various bird species and Colobus monkeys. Reach Simba Camp for overnight stay.

Day 3: Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp (3,450m)

Trek through moorland with occasional views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Ascend steadily to Second Cave Camp situated at the base of Kibo. Enjoy breathtaking sunset views.

Day 4: Second Cave Camp to Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m)

Traverse the barren landscape, crossing the lunar desert towards Kikelelwa Camp. Ascend to Third Cave before descending into a valley dotted with giant senecio plants.

Day 5: Kikelelwa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)

Ascend gradually through alpine desert with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak. Arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp nestled beneath the towering cliffs of Mawenzi. Rest and acclimatize.

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut (4,700m)

Trek across the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, a stark alpine desert. Arrive at Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the summit bid.

Day 7: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Begin the ascent in the early hours of the morning under the starlit sky. Reach Gilman’s Point (5,681m) at dawn and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.

Day 8: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

Descend through moorland to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Transfer back to your hotel for a celebration dinner and a well-deserved rest.
